Apple & Google Login Feature

Hello people,

We are considering implementing social logins in our app (Google & Apple) to simplify and facilitate user login. However, this generates issues with our customer profiles and everything related to them (segmentation, campaign targeting, discounting, etc.) as a user could hide their email through Apple or use another email more easily to generate a new account.

Does anyone have by any chance any data regarding what % of users use it and if you have any best practices for user identification?

    Hi AitorAbonjo

We have had quite a few login methods in the past (slowly winding back for other reasons) but when a user logs into our app, they get allocated a unique user ID in Amplitude and this unique ID is passed to Braze as their User ID. Braze allocates a unique ID so it would be the same going direct to Braze.

It shouldn't impact segmentation as the user would still have a unique ID regardless of their email address and emails can change over time, so I don't think they are a great source of truth for a user. The biggest impact we've seen is the ability to be able to email / not email some users, but Braze lets you get their attention in other channels anyhow.

Can you explain a little more about your use cases where having a hidden email would impact segmentation and targeting? Just trying to understand it better, since those users will have a unique ID anyhow. I could be missing something.😊
