Email Design Process Figma vs. Braze vs. Photoshop

We are exploring how we can improve our email design operation process. We currently design emails in Photoshop and then build out email designs and send proofs to clients. Would you recommend having designers design in Braze or in Figma or Photoshop? What are the pros/cons?

  • My current flow (has changed over time). I build initial prototypes in Figma largely because it's what I'm used to from working with Engineers, and our designers use it. It's also easy to share with others for comment. I could code the email at that point, but I tend to build the first draft in Braze Drag and Drop as it does a really good job of automatically adding all the HTML to get difficult email clients such as Outlook to display well. You could easily stop there, but I always download the HTML so I have a record of it outside of Braze, that I can work with and tweak in VS Code, or use elsewhere.

TL;DR design outside Braze, build inside. Use the best tool for each step.
