Is the Braze Data Platform a CDP?

The Braze Data Platform is not a CDP.
We chose the name ‘Braze Data Platform’ because our focus is on our core business: helping brands deliver impactful, relevant customer engagement, using Braze. Data is core to audience segmentation and personalization in Braze, while data generated via Braze is increasingly leveraged to inform broader product and business strategy in addition to marketing and customer engagement.
While the acronym ‘CDP’ can mean different things for different vendors, we believe that core CDP duties are not only to create unified views of each customer, but to empower brands to send customer data to a variety of destinations – which frequently extend to non-Marketing platforms (e.g. Sales, Customer Service, etc.)
At Braze, we want to make it easy to connect and integrate with priority data sources and destinations, which often include CDPs. We are committed to being excellent stewards of our customers’ data and their data needs, which is why platform extensibility and ecosystem integrations are – and will remain – core to our data platform.
