TellTail is an innovative platform designed to connect certified dog breeders with prospective pet buyers, fostering responsible pet ownership and ethical breeding practices. By offering support and education, TellTail ensures that both breeders and buyers have access to valuable resources, including learning modules and a comprehensive breed library.
 

As the Director of Marketing, you will establish and achieve key objectives for all marketing channels each quarter. You will head our customer acquisition strategy, providing both hands-on involvement and mentorship. Your focus will be on nurturing both sides of our marketplace, driving growth among breeders and buyers through strategic campaigns.

You will work in close partnership with the creative and analytics teams to generate actionable insights, bringing innovative and effective campaign content to life. Part of your responsibility will be to evolve our market positioning and brand strategy.

A significant aspect of your role will involve rolling up your sleeves and spearheading our marketing technology initiatives, such as demand generation, marketing automation, and analytics. You will ensure that our teams, processes, and tools are synergistically aligned and integrated for optimal performance and insightful business results.

You'll have direct managerial responsibility for the social media team and the customer support team, ensuring their efforts align seamlessly with our marketing goals. This is an action-oriented position, and would be a great opportunity for someone who is interested in digging in where needed in our early-stage environment, but also growing into an even more strategic role in the future.

Moreover, you will refine the attribution model in collaboration with our analytics team, provide forecasts, and report key results to the CEO and the board.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of marketing experience in a marketplace or platform business model, including experience building and managing high-performance marketing teams.

  • Experience with large budget management across paid and organic channels, preferably in a fast-paced, early-stage company.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in performance marketing, with a track record of successfully testing channels, scaling campaigns, and implementing a robust marketing strategy.

  • Proven experience in managing and executing brand awareness and preference campaigns using cross-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with paid platforms (e.g., Facebook/Instagram, Snap, TikTok, YouTube, Google) and offline channels (e.g., Podcast, audio, video).

  • Demonstrated experience with nurturing campaigns, Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to engage and grow both breeder and buyer segments of the marketplace.

  • Strong background in analytics and data-driven decision-making, proficient in using advanced data tools.

  • Ability to lead and influence, and drive execution of a strategy within a complex organization with competing priorities.

  • Experience in decision-making in environments with incomplete or imperfect information.

  • An MBA is preferred, but not required.
