What Notifications Can Be Sent To Slack
- New comments in a followed category
- New posts in a followed category
- New/Updated events in a followed category
- Personal Notifications set to email the user
What will the Notification Look Like
Bonfire to Slack notifications will look like emails sent to Slack. Each new notification will need to be selected, to read the content of the post.
While you can receive notifications from Bonfire to a slack channel, you will need to login to respond to a post, or engage with Bonfire Community content.
How To Send Bonfire Notifications to Slack
1. You'll need to create an email address for a channel or DM in Slack
2. Register a new user in Community associated with this slack email address. Please register the user's firstname as <organization>SlackNotifications ex. BestIceCreamSlackNotification
3. Once in the site as that user, follow the categories that you would like to receive notifications for. Select the email notification to have the communication come to slack.
4. Edit the email based notifications for the user you've created.
5. You're all set! When the criteria is met for the Community action you've set to receive an email notification, you'll get a notification in your designated slack channel Ex. A new comment is added to a category followed by the slack user you've created.
