[meta] unable to send PM

I'm getting a 'you've reached the limit for the number of private messages' error when attempting to send a PM (to an admin). Having only sent a few total in the past weeks, is there something locked/broken?

(this was just after an 'unable to post because of invalid HTML in message body' - though I'd only used the WYSIWYG editor and making one bit italic for emphasis).
